Works, but could use a few improvements
Wanted something that could record streaming music or sounds from the internet, came across this without any reviews. From Skynet which makes some reasonable apps, so thought I’d give it a try for $3. In case it helps, here are my thoughts:
It works, but short of instructions (ok, there are none; clicking Help just gets you a search box for iOS help. A few screenshots on the app store, but nothing that helped. I finally figured out I have to download the audio “device” LogMeInSoundDevice and install it, which I guess is some sort of encoder. When you have whatever you want to record ready to start, you have to swtich to that audio device. This means you can’t hear it, but can see the music EQ in Mp3 Recorder bounce up and down. When you are done recording, just hit stop. You can “convert” but not sure what that actually does, to be honest. To play it back, you have to switch the audio device back to your computer/headphone.
What they also don’t tell you is that it automatically saves everything you record or “convert” (again, not sure what convert does, as everything seems to be mp3 output). It saves it in your Mac Music folder under a subfolder Mp3 Recorder. Again, no instructions, had to find it myself. I kept trying to find a “save as” button/function, but there is none. It just names it some partially random number based on the date of your recording. You’ll have to rename it.
So, if they included instructions, a save as feature for naming, and you could hear what you’re recording, it would be 5 stars (ideally could pick sound quality too). Lacking those, 3 stars as ti gets the job done. My two cents anyway. Hope this helps someone else.
